My OM-D E-M1 mk1 shutter just started sticking recently and and I'd like to become it repaired.

Thank you for any assist you can give me.

Adept comment.  I suspect this is the kickoff of the end.  It'due south also why I won't spend another penny on anything Olympus.  Lenses in my experience last a long time and rarely need to be repaired, although these electronic marvels are not nearly as reliable as the old mechanical ones.  Cameras on the other hand, again, in my feel, get "sick" fairly ofttimes and if you can't get information technology repaired (and can't find an independent shop that has the parts) then you are stuck with a agglomeration of very expensive paper weights.

Panasonic has a poor reputation for customer service, merely for now they are the only game in boondocks I think. I just hope all the Olympians start spending money with Panasonic to keep the format alive.

IMO Pansonic cameras are very relaible. I have half dozen Panasonic cameras (non very good at selling photographic camera gear), starting with the G1 from 2009, no problems with any of them.

I take recently learned that the GM5 sometimes has issues with the rear dial failing (mine is OK), but  that's the only Panasonic camera I have seen with such an event.

Panasonic service in Canada is really reasonable. I pointed out an issue with thier parts supply and they fixed that within a couple of weeks, in the midst of the COVID pandemic.

I've been on the argue nigh buying a copy of the  Olympus 300mm F4, I remember I'm going to stay on the argue a while longer.

I've sent cameras and lenses for repair in Canada in contempo years, and they were never performed by Olympus.  A third-party (forgot the proper name) does it.

If that repair centre is currently closed, information technology has nothing to do with events in Japan.

I'll be amazed if the price of repair is less than the cost of buying a well-nigh pristine used copy off Ebay.

Olympus does not do repairs in Canada. Olympus repairs are handled past Trinitek located in Mississauga.

Yet, there is a major problem with their web site. All I get is a blank screen. If you google Trinitek and click on the website push button, you are taken to a drug shop.

This has been happening for well over a year and has never been resolved. I reported this here on this forum mode dorsum and then and as well to Trinitek.

Trinitek does exist and volition fix your photographic camera but they turn down to sell parts.

Just called them at 905 820 7018 and asked if this was where I could drop off an Olympus camera for warranty repair. Reply was yes, they had a drop box but the paper piece of work would have to come by email. From Olympus I guess.

Tin yous provide the link?

I just took my equipment into Henry'southward Camera and they packed and shipped it for me.  Repairs took about 6-8 weeks (prior to covid).  Toll is at least $300 for a major repair, and then it'south normally cheaper to repair PRO gear, and replace consumer gear.

Call back to strip out all accessories (lens, battery, SD card, etc) earlier bringing in.

I have had repairs done a few times by Trinitek for Oly equipment.  In all cases, it was washed correctly and quickly.  Very happy with their service.

So far so proficient

  • Called Trinitek Electronics in Mississauga (905-820-7018).  They answered correct away and said no problem.  They told me I should go a Service Order Number from Olympus Canada to send in with the camera
  • Called the Olympus Canada number for Service and Repairs.  Got a Service Rep right away and he walked me through the process - very helpful
  • Filled out the online service request and printed out the Service Gild to include with the camera which I'll try and go shipped out tomorrow.

All in all, it's been adept so far.  Trinitek had indicated the repair turnaround is 7-x business days unless they demand to order parts then we'll see how it goes

Pretty Impressive

I just got an email from Olympus Repair that my photographic camera has been repaired and is being returned via Purolator Air.

Very impressive considering Triniteck just received it two business days ago.
